
Youth Day Celebration at Newtown Church, Bhadravathi, Diocese of Shimoga
Shivamogga, August 17,2026: The Youth Day of Mary Immaculate Church, Newtown, Bhadravathi, Diocese of Shimoga was celebrated on 16th August 2026 with great enthusiasm and joy.
The programme began with the Holy Mass at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Fr. Pius, Director of SMSSS, Shimoga, offered the Mass, prayed for the youth, and blessed them. The Sunday liturgy was conducted by the youth. After the Mass, breakfast was arranged for all the participants.
The main programme began at 10:30 a.m. The youth welcomed all the dignitaries. After a short devotional hymn, the programme was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp. The chief guest, Rev. Fr. Pius, Director of SMSSS, encouraged the youth in his speech to first overcome their own weaknesses and set personal records rather than trying to break the records of others. He emphasized that only by improving oneself can one achieve greater success.
Rev. Fr. Lancy, Parish Priest of Mary Immaculate Church, Newtown, Bhadravathi, encouraged the youth to cultivate reading, writing, and artistic hobbies so that they could become valuable assets to the nation. He also advised them to stay away from bad habits.
Supriya, former National Youth President, spoke on the main theme of this year’s Youth Day. Following this, Pavan, the Secretary of Newtown Youth, presented the youth report. Ms. Lenny D’Sa Diocesan Youth President congratulated for the initiative taken by Youth of the New Town Parish to conduct youth Sunday.
The programme continued with cultural performances, various games, and action songs. Victor, Vice President of the Diocesan Youth, served as the Master of Ceremonies.
At the end of the programme, Anthony Vijay delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the celebration successful.
After the programme, food was served, followed by a short prayer. The celebration concluded at 2:30 p.m.
