Vianney Deanery Celebrates Girl Child Day with Joy and Enthusiasm, Diocese of Shimoga 

Shivamogga, September 21, 2026: The Vianney Deanery-Level Girl Child Day Celebration was held on September 20, 2026 with great joy and enthusiasm at St. Francis Xavier Church, Kable, Hosanagar Taluk, Shivamogga, bringing together women and girl children from various parishes of the deanery.

The programme was coordinated by Rev. Fr. Roman Pinto, Dean of Vianney Deanery, with the support of Sr. Geetha Prakash, Women’s Deanery Coordinator, and the Women’s Committee of Kable.

The celebration was graced by Sr. Elizabeth, Diocesan Women’s Coordinator, and Mrs. Savita D’Almeida, Vice-President of the Women’s Committee, Diocese of Shimoga. Their presence and words of encouragement added significance to the occasion.

The programme provided an opportunity to celebrate and affirm the dignity, talents, potential and importance of every girl child. Various competitions, including Fancy Dress, Drawing and Speech, were organised, giving the girls a platform to express their creativity, talents and confidence.

A short and meaningful programme also highlighted the valuable role of girls in the family, Church and society, while encouraging them to recognise their God-given gifts and grow with courage, faith and self-confidence.

The entire celebration unfolded in a joyful, warm and cordial atmosphere, creating a memorable experience for all who participated. The occasion served as a beautiful reminder that every girl child is precious, gifted and created by God with a unique purpose and dignity.
