Meeting of the Diocesan Directors of Commissions and Desks in the Diocese of Shimoga
Shivamogga, August 10, 2026: A meeting of the Directors of the various Diocesan Commissions and Desks of the Diocese of Shimoga was held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at Sannidhi, Centre for Pastoral Renewal, Shimoga. The meeting was presided over by Most Rev. Dr Duming Dias, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese, with Msgr. Stany D’Souza, his delegate, also present. The gathering began with an opening prayer led by Rev. Fr Santosh D’Almeida and his team, followed by a welcome address by Rev. Fr Arun Venil D’Silva. Rev. Fr Simon Pinto, Diocesan Coordinator, presented the minutes of the previous meeting, which were reviewed and approved.
The major focus of the meeting was the presentation of reports by Directors on the activities carried out by their respective Commissions and Desks over the past four months. The reports highlighted programmes addressing the pastoral, spiritual, social, educational and communicative needs of the faithful. This was followed by a constructive evaluation where Directors shared experiences, achievements and challenges. The discussions emphasized greater collaboration, people-centred planning, and making diocesan initiatives more participatory and mission-oriented.
In his pastoral address, Bishop Duming Dias urged the Directors to serve with faith, dedication and a spirit of communion, reminding them that all commissions are integral parts of the Church’s common mission. He appreciated their commitment and encouraged them to respond creatively to changing pastoral realities. Rev. Fr Regi proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting concluded with a renewed spirit of fellowship and commitment, reaffirming the shared responsibility of all commissions and desks in building a united, vibrant and missionary Diocese of Shimoga.
