
National Youth Day Celebrated at Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Bhadravathi, Shivamogga
Shivamogga, August 10, 2026: On 9 August 2026, Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Bhadravathi, Diocese of Shimoga celebrated National Youth Day with great enthusiasm and joy. The celebration focused on recognizing the energy, talents and valuable contribution of young people to the Church and society.
The celebration began with a creative entrance procession, in which the youth carried meaningful symbols representing their gifts, aspirations, responsibilities and commitment. These symbols were presented and offered at the altar as a sign of their willingness to place their lives and talents in the service of God and the community.
The youth enthusiastically led the liturgy and prayerfully animated the choir, adding vibrancy and meaning to the celebration. Their active participation reflected their faith, enthusiasm and commitment.
During the Breaking of the Word, Fr. Steevan D’Sa highlighted the importance and potential of young people. Citing the inspiring example of Malala Yousafzai, he encouraged the youth to recognize their God-given talents and use their energy, courage and abilities constructively for the betterment of the Church and society.
During the special Adoration, Fr. Steevan D’Sa offered prayers for the growth, guidance, protection and well-being of the youth. The community prayed that they may become responsible, compassionate and committed young people who bring hope and positive change to the world.
The priests and sisters expressed their appreciation and congratulated the youth on this special occasion. The celebration was a joyful reminder that young people are not merely the future of the Church but are also an important and active part of the Church today.
