
Yuvamitra Youth Commission Organises YCS/YSM Village Exposure Camp at Kable
Shivamogga, Kable, April 25, 2026: The Yuvamitra Youth Commission of the Diocese of Shimoga is organising a four-day YCS/YSM Village Exposure Camp from 25th to 28th April 2026 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Kable, Shivamogga.
The student-oriented camp aims to engage, inspire, and transform young minds through a process of personal metanoia, encouraging positive change in their attitudes towards life, values, and spirituality.
The programme commenced with an introductory session led by Fr. Roman Pinto, Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier Church, Kable, and Fr. Franklin D’Souza, Diocesan Youth Director. Mr. Melwin Rebello, DTS member, extended a warm welcome to all participants. Fr. Roman Pinto briefed the students on the camp venue and its objectives.
Following the orientation, participants were divided into three cells to promote learning, reflection, and teamwork. Fr. Franklin D’Souza then conducted a session on the “See, Judge, Act” methodology. He explained the YCS/YSM movement in detail, covering its history, vision, mission, and methodology, while highlighting the significance of the cell system in student formation. The session concluded with Eucharistic Adoration in the church, led by Fr. Roman Pinto. ICYM Lady Animator Sr Ophilia SCCG, ICYM Diocesan President Ms Lenny D’Sa were present for the program.
A total of 30 students, along with 6 animators and the Youth Director, are taking part in the camp, which will conclude at noon on 28th April 2026. As part of the exposure experience, participants are actively involved in village-based activities including campus cleaning, collecting firewood, and gathering dry leaves for the shed. These activities provide practical awareness of rural life.
The camp primarily seeks to give participants firsthand experience of village living, helping them understand the dignity of labour, the lifestyle of farmers, and the value of simplicity in everyday life.
