Praise the Lord!
On behalf of the Diocese of Shimoga, Yuvamitra, and the entire youth of our diocese, I extend heartfelt congratulations on your election as the National General Secretary of ICYM, CCBI Youth Commission.
Your appointment is a moment of joy and pride for the Diocese of Shimoga and the Karnataka Region. We see in this the hand of God who “calls you by name” Isaiah 43:1 and entrusts you with the mission of shepherding young people across our nation.
Remember the Church’s teaching:
The Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, Apostolicam Actuositatem, 12 reminds us: “Young people should become the first apostles to the young.” You are now called to be that apostle at the national level. Lead not for position, but for mission. “Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity” 1 Timothy 4:12.
Our admonition in the Lord:
1. Serve with humility: “Whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant” Matthew 20:26. ICYM is not a stage for honour, but an altar of service.
2. Uphold the faith: Be rooted in the Word and Eucharist. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” Romans 12:2.
3. Keep the good name: You carry the name of Shimoga Diocese and Karnataka Region with you. Let your dedication, integrity, and pastoral zeal bring glory to Christ and honour to the Church that formed you. “Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” 1 Corinthians 10:31.
We assure you of our prayers as you begin this blessed and challenging tenure. May St John Bosco, Patron of Youth, St Gonsalo Garcia, ICYM Patro, St Anthony of Padua, great preacher to the young, intercede for you.
May the Good Shepherd who said “Feed my lambs” John 21:15guide you to inspire and lead the youth of India with faith, courage, and joy.
