Grotto Feast – Our Lady of Lourdes (Lurdhu Mathe)

Shivamogga, February 16, 2026: The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes (Lurdhu Mathe) was solemnly celebrated on 12 February 2026 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. A special Eucharistic celebration was held in front of the Grotto. The Holy Mass was offered by Fr. Franklin, who preached on the theme: “ಲೂರ್ಧು ಮಾತೆ ಸಮಾಜದ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಭರವಸೆಯ ದಾರಿ ದೀಪ” (Our Lady of Lourdes as a beacon of hope for those on the margins of society). Fr. Stany D’Souza, the Parish Priest, and the Fathers from the OCD concelebrated the Mass.

During the celebration, healing prayers werd held for the faithful. At the request of the faithful, a small devotional structure was constructed beside the main grotto, and a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes was installed there to enable the faithful to approach, touch, and offer their prayers.

The celebration concluded with a fellowship meal served to all who had gathered for the feast.
