
Jeevamruta 2026 Camp in the Diocese of Shimoga

Shivamogga, April 15, 2026: The Jeevamratha Camp was organized from April 11th to April 15th, 2026, at Sannidhi, the Pastoral Centre, Shivamogga. The camp aimed at fostering spiritual growth, deepening the understanding of the Church, and helping students reflect on their faith and vocation.
The camp was inaugurated on April 11, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. with the lighting of the lamp. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Fr. Stany D’Souza, Delegate of the Apostolic Administrator, who encouraged the participants to cultivate enthusiasm and a fear of the Lord in their lives. Other dignitaries present included Fr. Santhosh D’Almeida (Director of Subhoda and organizer), Fr. Venil D’Silva (Coordinator), and Fr. Clifford Pinto (Director, Sannidhi). The camp witnessed the participation of 111 Catholic students of 9th Standard, along with 9 sisters and 2 brothers.
Following the inauguration and dinner, the students were grouped through structured group dynamics activities to promote interaction and teamwork. The sessions conducted during the camp were both informative and spiritually enriching.
Day 1:
Fr. Santhosh D’Almeida provided an orientation to the camp. Fr. Venil D’Silva spoke on God’s redemptive plan for humankind. Fr. Stephen D’Sa explained the Holy Catholic Church and its significance. Fr. Santhosh D’Almeida further elaborated on the symbols found in the Catholic Church.
Day 2:
Fr. Biju Thomas presented the concept of the Church as the Kingdom of God. Fr. Stephen Albuquerque explained the hierarchy of the Church. Fr. Simon Pinto dealt with the Gospels in the Church, and Fr. Nelson D’Souza explained the liturgy in a comprehensive manner.
Day 3:
Fr. Nelgal Christuraj spoke on the development of the Church. Fr. Clifford Pinto explained the concept of the local Church. Fr. Stany D’Souza highlighted the role of Mother Mary in the Church. Mr. David, a member of the MFC, addressed the students on the importance of family life and values. Fr. Roshan Pinto conducted a session on call and vocation, encouraging students to discern their life’s purpose.
Each day of the camp began with meditation followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, creating a spiritually enriching environment. The students actively participated in action songs, interactive sessions, group dynamics, and outdoor games, which fostered team spirit and cooperation. The daily Bible quiz enabled the students to deepen their knowledge of the Scriptures in an engaging manner. Cultural programs were organized every evening after dinner, providing a platform for students to express their talents and creativity.
The camp proved to be a meaningful and enriching experience, offering both spiritual nourishment and opportunities for personal growth. It enabled the students to deepen their understanding of the Church and strengthened their faith.
Br. Mario Aranha, Br. Melroy D’Silva, Sr. Janet Sequeira AC, Sr. Preethi AC, Sr. Ancita SCCJ, Sr. Sophiya Priya SCB, Sr. Stella Mary SCB, Sr. Deepthi FDM, Sr Rajkumari FDM, Sr. Rekha SRA, and Sr. Pauline BS assisted the organizing team and supported the students by animating groups and conducting spiritual exercises and activities.
The Jeevamratha Camp concluded on 15th April 2026 with a valedictory program, marking its successful completion. Fr Stany D’Souza distributed certificates to all participants and conveyed his best wishes. The students expressed their gratitude to all the priests, brothers, and religious sisters who accompanied them throughout the camp.
