Let YCS/YSM Light Shine

YCM / YSM (Young Catholic Students/Young Students Movement) Beginners’ camp for Carmel Denary was held on 24th July 2022 in Yuvamita, Shivamogga. 160 YCS / YSM members from 11 parishes and 29 animators were present. Prior to this camp the animators had the virtual meeting twice in order to plan and have it in systematic and dynamic manner.
The day began with the registration at 9:00am followed by Holy Eucharistic celebration at 9.30 am, presided by Fr Pius D’Souza, the youth director of the diocese of Shimoga, with the powerful message of the importance and the need for prayer in our personal and community life in connection with the first reading of the day from the book of Genesis where Abraham pleads for the immoral cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Followed by the inauguration and ice breaking session and the self introduction of all the animators present. The YCS / YSM members were divided into to five groups for the self introduction. The volunteers lead fabulous and mind blowing animation to help the groups to be freer and be comfortable with one another.
First session given by Mr. Aaron the former president of YCS/YSM diocese of Shimoga, he very systematically explained about the history, meaning, objectives, purpose, spiritual characteristics and the structure of the movement of YCS / YSM. The second session was conducted by Fr Pius D’Souza the Chaplin of YCS / YSM, who very vividly elucidated the Vision, Mission and Methodology of YCM/YSM. Vision: To evolve a new society with values, Aim: to build “A just Society” – God’s Kingdom, Methodology: See, Judge and Act (Awareness, Reflection, Action and Evaluation) and he motivated the members of YCS / YSM to be more effective in the Present Scenario. The volunteers taught the YCS / YSM anthem to inculcate in them the real YCS / YSM spirit to bring about a just society.
Very. Rev Fr. Stany D’Souza, the Dean of Carmel deanery and parish priest of Cathedral parish addressed the YCS / YSM gathering with the short motivating message of letting the light of life YCS / YSM shine brightly in the entire world to make it a better world to live. Rev Fr Veeresh V. Moras, the parish priest of Good Shepahrd Church Gopala honoured all the participants of the YCM / YSM beginners’ camp with the certificate.
At the close of the day Fr Pius D’Souza, thanked all the participants, animators and all those who rendered their service for the day’s success. Mr Avin Nadan thanked everybody and especially Fr Pius D’Souza, the youth director of the diocese of Shimoga, for his tireless service that he renders to form better persons for the Church and society in this digital world.
