The ENLIGHT – Enlightening on the Liturgy session for the youth of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shivamogga 

Shivamogga, March 22, 2026: The ENLIGHT – Enlightening on the Liturgy  session was conducted on 21st March 2026 – Saturday with the aim of helping youth and students better understand the liturgy. The program was organized by  ICYM and YCS/YSM Cathedral Unit.

The program began with an inaugural ceremony led by Rev. Fr Nelson D’Souza – Diocesan Director for Liturgy along with Rev. Fr Jostro  MSFS – Assistant Parish Priest and ICYM Unit Director, Mr. Raju – ICYM Cathedral Unit President and Mr. Jeeva Stalin-  YCS/YSM Cathedral Unit President. The dignitaries inaugurated the session by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

After the inauguration, Rev. Fr. Jostro delivered his message on the importance of liturgy in the life of the Church and encouraged everyone to participate actively.

The main session was led by Rev. Fr Nelson D’Souza. He explained different aspects of liturgy in a simple and clear way. The session included topics such as what liturgy is, how to participate actively, the meaning of liturgical symbols, what to do and what not to do during the Holy Eucharist, the roles of ministers in the liturgy, and the importance of gestures like bowing, kissing and incensing the altar. He also explained about the Holy Sacraments.

During the session, he said that the Holy Eucharist is not just a tradition, but a sacred act of faith that is important in every stage of human life. A total of 73 youth and students participated in the session. The program concluded with a vote of thanks and a closing prayer. Certificates were given to all the participants.
