
Christmas Recollection & Celebration held in the Diocese of Shimoga
Shivamogga, December 18, 2025: A Christmas Recollection & Celebration was held in the Diocese of Shimoga. The recollection began at 6 PM with a prayer by Fr. Stephen Maxi Albuquerque and a welcome speech by Fr. George K. A., who welcomed Apostolic Administrator Bishop Duming Dias and all the clergy. He also introduced the recollection preacher, Fr. Paul Melwin D’souza OFM CAP.
Then, at 6:15 p.m., Fr. Paul spoke on Pope Leo’s Apostolic Exhortation “Dilexi te” which means “Love for the poor.” At 7:15 p.m., he led the adoration. The day concluded with 8 p.m. supper.
On December 18th, the day commenced at 6:45 AM with morning prayer and meditation. Following breakfast at 7:45 AM, a talk, which was a continuation of the Delixi retreat, began at 8:45 AM. At 9:30 AM, there was an Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with individual Confessions and benediction by the recollection preacher. A coffee break was held at 10:30 AM, followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Apostolic Administrator Bishop Duming Dias at 11:00 AM. At 12:00 noon, a Christmas celebration took place, during which Bishop Duming Dias delivered a Christmas message and distributed Christmas cake to all attendees. Fr. Anthony Nazareth proposed the vote of thanks. The recollection concluded at 1:15 PM with a festive meal.
