
13th Regional Youth Convention, Yuvajanostava, held at St Joseph’s College, Diocese of Karwar
The 13th Regional Youth Convention, Yuvajanostava, was held at St. Joseph’s College grounds, Karwar, from October 2 to 5, 2025. The event brought together youth from various dioceses and movements to foster spiritual growth, unity, and empowerment.
Inauguration and Keynote Sessions
The convention began with an inaugural procession, followed by a Holy Mass, celebrated by Bishop Duming Dias. Bishop Henry Dsouza delivered a heartfelt homily, emphasizing the importance of faith and unity among the youth. The keynote address was delivered by Bishop, highlighting the role of youth in the Church and society. Mr. Suraj Francis Noronha spoke on “Youth Identity, Opportunity, and Challenges,” inspiring the youth to take an active role in shaping their future. Fr Franklin D’Souza, Diocesan Youth Director of Diocese of Shimoga spoke on”Youth, the disciple of Jesus”. He also led the healing adoration and prayed for the 1100 youth who gathered from the 14 dioceses of Karnataka Region.
Topics like ‘Nationalism’ dealt with by Sri Sri Swasthisri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Pandithacharayavariya Swamiji of Jain Math, Moodbidri and ‘Environment’ by Activist Dinesh Holla from Mangalore.
Animation and Empowerment Sessions
The convention featured various animation sessions, including those led by Mangalore Diocese, Belgaum Diocese, and Bosco Youth. These sessions aimed to empower the youth with skills and knowledge, enabling them to become effective leaders in their communities. The “YES TALKS – Youth Empowerment Stories” session featured a panel discussion, where youth shared their experiences and insights on empowerment.
Spiritual and Cultural Events
The convention included several spiritual and cultural events, such as the Taize Prayer, Sacrament of Reconciliation, and a spiritual concert by YU4C and Jesus Youth. The events provided a platform for the youth to express their faith and creativity, fostering a sense of unity and belonging.
On the final day, a peace rally was convened, with youth leaders delivering a message advocating for peace within the nation. Subsequently, the Most Rev. Dr Peter Machado, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Bangalore and President of KRCBC, presided over the concluding Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist, accompanied by the Bishops and Youth Directors of the Karnataka region.
Valedictory and Conclusion
The convention concluded with a valedictory session, where the youth expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the event. The Arch Diocese of Bangalore led the final animation session, emphasizing the importance of continued support and guidance for the youth. The 13th Regional Youth Convention, Yuvajanostava, was a resounding success, empowering the youth to become agents of change in their communities.
